The 10th Anniversary for 1994 Tragedy in Bafq

Bafq Sep 4, 2003- The 10th anniversary for 1994 Tragedy was held by kids and juveniles in the city of Bafq, Yazd Province.

The Educational&Cultural Center (ECC), an organization dependent to the Iranian Ministry of Education in collaboration with Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) held a local fair, entitled "Let the Cheetahs Live With Us" since Sep 3 for two days. The purpose of holding the fair was to introduce the cheetah to the local people in Bafq and preparing a background for participating in the great "Cheetah & Kids Festival" on Oct 8, 2003 in Bafq (see ICS Events for more). The fair was prepared by juveniles and kids in which they showed their drawings, papers, sculptures and games made by themselves to the visitors. More than 500 people visited the 2 days fair, including several stakeholders and local high-ranked people. The fair was on the 10th anniversary for 1994 Tragedy when due to drought, a cheetah with three 5 months cubs entered the city bafq to find some water, but were seized by some people, the mother run away, two cubs killed and the third captured now kept in Pardisan Park, Tehran as the only captive Iranian cheetah in the world, called Marita.
