Miandasht Wildlife Refuge

With 85000 ha flat plains, the area is the most similar Iranian habitat to the African cheetah’s habitats where the only large prey is gazelle and the present 6 to 10 cheetahs rely mainly on hares and rodents. The Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) has put remarkable efforts since 2003 in order to approve the cheetah and study on the species ecology inside “The Iranian Serengeti”.
